Not half, only what you paid, which would be half of half a year's payments, or 1/4.

are you filing separately or jointly? you are still legally married for tax purposes and both own the house and both are liable for the mortgage debt at least until you get divorce

No.If you held the property as tenants by the entirety, you can deduct the property taxes YOU paid.If you held the property as tenants byt he entirety, you can deduct the mortgage interest YOU paid.From your description, you paid 1/4th.

I'm from Canada, so this answer may not be correct. But, in Canada I'm pretty sure you can't claim interest on your taxes unless you are running a business from home.
