Yeah..it depends where you're buying. I know most places around the US (except CA, NY, AZ, WA) are losing values in their homes. There are a lot of foreclosures going around cause people can't afford to pay their mortgage. If I had the money to buy a house, I'd buy one in San Diego or San Francisco, CA. Those are some of the hottest real estate values in the country. You can always expect the prices to go up in such areas. Oh, and another thing, If you buy a house around a college campus, the prices will be going up cause college students usually need a place stay. I know that because the houses around UC Berkeley in Berkeley, CA are ridiculously small, old, and expensive!

Depends on what house and what city and what neighborhoodas far as the price is concerned. As for home sales, I doknow that they are down more right now than they havebeen in a very long time. So you might can get a prettygood deal. But again, it depends on the type home youare looking for, the neighborhood and the city.

In Alberta, canada we have a superheated economy because of the oilsands. Last year in Edmonton the house prices went up 52% and they are expected to increase by at least 15% this year. People as far away as the Philipines and Australia are buying investment properties in Alberta. As a mortgage broker from Edmonton, the house market is already heating up, as buyers are getting scared of a huge price increase.
