Typically, your credit rating is restored 7 years after your date of discharge. However, because your student loans are in collections, your credit report will not be clean until 7 years after you have finished paying your loans in full.
Student loans are not forgiven with a bankruptcy, but you say you are paying each month? If this is the case, call CBV (the owner of your account now) and ask them very simply why they are not reporting your payments to the credit agencies. You'll have to decide where to take the conversation from there. I know that they are allowed to report the missing payment info for 10 years, as I too had a defaulted student loan that I paid off. The info says it's been paid but I am still showing negative history and will for a while.Best of luck to you. Remember to be KIND and POLITE to the CBV rep. They'll be more likely to help you then. Also, if you are not sure about their reasoning, ask them to explain in again, take notes, and document who you spoke with and when. This way you can make sure that (in case the story changes) you can verigy who you spoke with. THis is going to be a very long journey, I'm afraid. GOOD LUCK!
