the only thing that will put this to rest is when people stop talking about hossagate. it's done, over, finite. he saw detroit win the cup, he said to himself, 'self, i want to win a cup too', they made him an offer he couldn't refuse, he took the offer, end of story. whether they 'had him from hello' or not is a pointless topic to debate about. it's pretty obvious what was going on in his little brain at this point (hindsight is a b*tch). you got 'em, enjoy 'em, now shad up about it.

I think that Babcock may have suggested it and implanted the idea in Hossa's head. But the handshake line isn't a slow moving thing. It was probably a quick thought/suggestion. I think Hossa has always wanted to play on a true winning team and the Wings are that. I think the implanted suggestion may have stuck and he wanted to be a Wing all along. Detroit was, is and most likely always be a smart organization. They were smart enough to see a shift in hockey talent as they went from the Russian five to the Swedish brigade. It looks to be another strong year for the Wings

That is the greatest thing I've read all off-season and one of the greatest moves I've seen.
